MEET THE TEAM

Tara Bullock
Principle
​

Tara started dancing when she was just 2 years old doing tap, modern and ballet where she eventually joined a cheerleading team during her degree at the University of Leeds. She also travelled Europe competing and training in many European Championships. She then began teaching choir, musical theatre and cheerleading in America but eventually returned back to the UK to complete her teacher training with IDTA. 

​

Tara is now a level 3 qualified cheerleading coach with the UKCA as well as a member of 'British Gymnastic's - home of team GB. She is also a qualified member of ABD dance association which allows us to offer dance exams and entry to dance championships. 

​

11 years ago she opened PUMA, and 4 years ago bought the methodist church in Skelton which PUMA now call home. Since this move, the team have represented the country in FOUR European cheerleading championships where both our Junior and Senior teams have become supreme champions.

​

Tara is also first aid trained and holds a valid extended DBS license. 

Chloe Hatfield
Dance Teacher
​

Chloe started dancing when she was just 18 months old and started competing at 2, as well as completing her exams in ballet and modern with ISTD. She competed in regional Tap Finals at championship level and became North East Cleveland Tap champion in 2002. Following the win, she then qualified for the Marjorie Davies Tap awards in London. ​

 

At 17 she joined PUMA and started volunteer teaching for Tara, where she completed her Cheerleading Level 2 qualifications with UKCA and her Tap Teaching with UKA dance.

 

Chloe went on to complete her Early Childhood Studies degree at Teesside University, and then her PrImary PGCE at Durham University. During this time she continued to teach for Tara and has been with PUMA for 10 years - where she even used to compete in Pom and Cheerleading!

Last year Chloe's PUMA Cheer Dance Team qualified for the 2018 Europeans and won bronze in the Netherlands.

 

Chloe holds a valid extended DBS license and has completed courses in Children's Safeguarding, Inclusion and Leading Learning. 

Kate Matthews
Dance Teacher
​

Kate also started dancing at the young age of 2 and completed her ballet, modern and tap exams with IDTA. She then went onto university where she studied Musical Theatre and Dance, graduating with a 1st class honours. During her time there she has performed at the Hope Mill Theatre in Manchester and The Arts Theatre in London, working with professional choreographers in contemporary, lyrical and jazz. 

​

After graduation Kate worked as a stage manager in London, Carlisle and Sunderland before settling in Guisborough earlier this year. Being a recent addition to the PUMA team, Kate is excited about returning to dance, specialising in ballet, contemporary and singing.

​

Kate holds a valid extended DBS license.

Carol Barwick
Tumbling Coach​

 

Carol started her coaching career at just 14 and has coached Women’s artistic gymnastics over 30 years.

In the most recent years she has coached acrobatics and tumble alongside gymnastics.

 

She is a level 3/4 gymnastics coach with British Gymnastics (Home of Team GB) and this is her passion.

Carol believes that to gain in self esteem and confidence children need to feel successful. She does this by setting achievable goals and encouraging practise as nothing is impossible!

Carol holds a valid extended DBS License.

Courtney Coiley
Urban and Hip Hop Teacher
​

Courtney is originally from Ireland where she started dancing around the age of 5 where she fell in love with dance and now can't imagine her life without it! She's a current Ireland champion with "Hip Hop Masters" and has help the gold title for 3 years running representing Hip Hop International Ireland. Due to this, Courtney gets to represent her country in America competing for a title to put Ireland on the map!

 

She now teaches for PUMA among other schools and this will be her third year of teaching. 

​

Courtney says "I love what I do! If you put the work in you get it back, rise above setbacks! They make us achieve are goals."

​

Courtney holds a valid extended DBS license.

Student Tumble Coaches​

 

We also have a wonderful quartet of student coaches who have excelled in their own tumbling, and now help our younger students! â€‹
